Sunday was a SEVEN Green Arrow Day.
More Tests / Fewer Cases
Good Morning,
Yesterday was a SEVEN Green Arrow Day; below are the particulars.
The number of tests performed in the United States has increased from less than 5 million per week just a few weeks ago to 7 million. There are several aspects to this phenomenon; first, it shows how quickly the USA could increase testing capacity and improve testing distribution and reporting. In May, for example, we averaged just about 2.5 million per week compared to the 180% increase over the past several weeks. Second, the USA can now test for precautionary reasons, such as several major league sports, universities, and other institutions. A significant milestone.
With more testing, one would anticipate more cases, but that is not what the data shows. In the graph below, one can see that the number of cases, at least recorded instances, has dropped by almost 50% since July. More tests (180%) and fewer patients (47%) look like progress to us.
New Cases
New cases have dropped over the last couple of months from July’s 1.97 million to October’s rate of 1.04 million a 47.3% decrease.
Tests
The number of tests performed recently has jumped by more than 2 million compared to four weeks ago.
