Sunday was a NINE Green Arrow Day.

The Outlook is Bright

Good Morning,

Sunday was an EIGHT Green Arrow Day; below are the particulars.

There is plenty of room for optimism regarding the virus. For instance, there are fewer cases, deaths, and those requiring critical care.

  • Last week, we recorded 378,583 cases, a 9.2% drop from the prior week and a 78.2% from the week ended January 10, 2021.
  • The number of deaths fell to 8,055 compared to the same referenced week, 23,057, a drop of 65.1%.
  • The number of patients receiving critical care fell to 8,404, which is significantly better than the 30,000 plus in January.
  • The infection rate was in the low to mid-teen percentage level, while this past week, it dropped to less than 4%.

These factors most likely can be attributable to gaining on our term, Herd Immunity Factor (HIF). There are simply fewer germ carriers and those that can “get” the virus. By our count, there are 141.2 million “safe,” not germ-carrying individuals in the US.  We calculate the HIF as follows.

Vaccinations + cases (reported & projected) = Herd Immunity Factor (HIF)

At the end of last week, there were 37.5 million patients that have completed their entire regimen of doses or shots. Patients vaccinated combined with those with a recorded recovery, 29.9 million, and the estimated 73.9 million that most likely had the virus and recovered. That brings the HIF to 141.2 million or 42.5%. We believe once the 50% HIF is reached, the progress to defeating this virus will accelerate.
