Yesterday was a Eight Green Arrow day.
Good Morning:
The United States saw its 1 millionth case yesterday. However, there was quite a bit of good news as several states began to lift some of the restrictions.
Going from left to right on the attached spreadsheet tables:
1) New cases of 23,196 was the lowest since March.
2) New case growth rate of 2.3% was the lowest ever recorded. NYC was down to 1.4%.
3) Fatalities increased to 1,384, up from Sunday’s total.
4) Recorded recoveries were 20,209, the second highest level ever.
5) The rate of recoveries improved to 17.0%.
6) The rate positive tests dropped to 10.2%, the lowest since we began tracking these.
7) The overall positive tests dropped to 13.3%.
8) Greater NYC new case rate dropped to 1.4%.
9) Theoretical recoveries crossed the 50% threshold.
Our calculated “Theoretical Recoveries” are based on accumulated cases two weeks prior, less deaths and those still in extended care. As of yesterday, there were 515,969 categorized as such or 51.1%. A very important milestone, the US now has more recovered cases than those still open.
We will expect this number to continually gain momentum for two reasons. First new cases are decreasing at a quicker rate and the number of cases at less than two weeks were there highest levels. This is important because they are now healthy and no longer carriers. Using this calculation, we have less than 500,000 open cases.
