Yesterday Tuesday April 14, 2020 THREE green arrow day.
There were a few more new cases about 400 and deaths were higher. Although the deaths happened yesterday, we all know that those were patients that got the virus several weeks ago.
Encouraging is the growth rate in the US fell to 4.6% and in greater NYC it maintained the trend of growing slower than in the US at large.
Again, recovery data appears to be underreported. The “unaccounted for recoveries” are over 85,000. We have discussed the importance of recoveries and how those people are no longer carriers. It would seem that more emphasis should be made to get a better handle on this. Notice how the patter of red and green arrows have alternated over the past nine days, which has my spider senses twitch, thinking there are inconsistencies in how data is collected then reported.
COVID 19 cases are a regional phenomenon as almost half of all cases are in the greater NYC / Boston corridor. As our political leaders look to re-open our country, one hopes that they will see a “one size shoe” solution isn’t the right answer.
With the data we now have along with AI we should be able to use more precise measures to control the infection rates better than we are yet open our country back up.
We do not believe that the answer is binary, lifting the restrictions means higher growth rates. Looking deep into the data we should be able to find more specific contamination situations and address them accordingly. Even in greater NYC our largest hot spot only 1% of the population has or has had the virus.
Enjoy your day.
