April 8, 2020

Good Morning:

Yesterday Tuesday April 7, 2020 TWO green arrow day. It was also the third day in a row in which the new case growth rate was in single digits. NY & NJ rate was lower than the rest of the US as it fell to 6.7%.

The new case rates are the critical factor to watch. Just a couple of weeks ago that rate was in the mid-twenties.

Deaths increased yesterday to its highest level. This of course, throughout the reporting period, is the statistic which bring on the most sadness, no matter what the level.

We added a “Theoretical Recovery” box on the worksheet to give the readers a better sense of how many have recovered. As we have mentioned for many reasons the recoveries look to be underreported.

We would guess that there are a bit less than 47,000 recoveries rather than the reported 21,674. The impact of recoveries is huge principally because the no longer can pass the virus and their self-developed antibodies can ensure they are safe. There are opinions about as to whether the antibodies prevent a recurrence, but experts say it does.

“I do not know of any cases at present where I would be definitively convinced that a person had fully recovered from the disease and had been reinfected as opposed to relapsed,” William Hanage, assistant professor of epidemiology at the T.H. Chan School of Public Health at Harvard University, told UPI. “A lot of people are concerned about it, but I don’t think we have any good evidence for it.”

Have a wonderful day.
