Yesterday was a SIX Green Arrow Day.
Weekly Summary for Week Ended July 12, 2020
Death Rate Plummets
Yesterday was a SIX Green Arrow Day. Below are the particulars for the day.
Over the past couple of weeks, we have observed a much higher level of testing. The number of tests performed is close to 5 million compared to half that amount in mid-May. As one would suspect, there is a corresponding increase in new cases. Please keep in mind that those seeking a test most likely have or believe they have symptoms. What we don’t know is if the rate is high or is it because we have increased the capacity and capability of testing. In the early days, there were not enough tests, and patients with mild symptoms were told merely to self-quarantine.
What we do know is that the number of deaths and the associated rate has plummeted. In April, for instance, there were 55,687 deaths compared to 17,576 for the month ended July 12, 2020, a decrease of 68.4%. Similarly, April’s fatality rate was 6.2% versus 1.4% for the comparable time ended Sunday. Last week’s rate fell to 1.1%.
Test Rates
Tests performed have increased to a 5 million/week level. The increase capacity and capability is helping drive this statistic
Death Rate
Both the number of fatalities and the rate has dropped. Last weeks rate was the lowest recorded. Yesterday was the 33rd straight day with fewer than 1,000 fatalities.
