Yesterday was a THREE Green Arrow Day.

Tests, Tests and More Tests

Good Morning,

Yesterday was a THREE Green Arrow Day. Below are the particulars for the day.

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve seen a surge of tests being performed across the country. There has been a three-fold increase since the last full week in April, from 1.6 million to the previous week’s level of 4.9 million.

Are more tests better…probably, if put into the proper context? We know we have a higher number of people testing positive for COVID 19 than in April, but what if tests were not rationed back then due to capacity and capability issues? Remember, back then, only those with severe symptoms were tested.

During that week in April, we averaged about 31,000 new cases per day, if we had the same capacity to test back then, would the average have been three times higher? Of course, we don’t know that answer. However, recently the CDC (June 25, 2020) reported that through various testing, the actual historical cases are 10 times higher.

“Our best estimate right now is that for every case that was reported, there actually were ten other infections,” Dr. Robert Redfield, the director of the CDC, said during a call with reporters Thursday.

What does this mean? The rates of infections are much higher than anyone has reported, the fatality rates are significantly lower, and we have ten times as many people with anti-bodies than imagined.
