Yesterday was an EIGHT Green Arrow Day.
Weekly Summary for Week Ended July 5, 2020
Good Morning,
Yesterday was an EIGHT Green Arrow Day. Below are the particulars for the day.
We hope all of you had a wonderful holiday weekend filled with family, friends, and summer fun.
The weekly trends are clear with three distinct patterns; the growth of tests has accelerated with the corresponding increase in new cases, and fatalities have plummeted. This is good news because it means we are better protecting and caring for those with multiple underlying conditions. Part of that credit goes to keeping them isolated from potential germ carriers, and the healthcare system is better adept at caring for those that get sick.
The number of tests per week has increased by about 250% from just over 1 million 90 days ago to 5 million, while new cases have increased by only 63%, over the same period. Keep in mind during the early days, many, particularly those with mild symptoms, were turned away because of capacity. Perhaps had testing been available then as it is now, we might see a more judicious use of the term “spikes.”
The three graphs below show the weekly changes and visible patterns over the last three months.
Test Rates:
Tests performed have increased to a 5 million/week level. Our thought is that testing will continue to accelerate
New Case Rates:
New cases have escalated in step with the rise in tests.
Death Rates:
The most important statistic, at least for right now, are fatalities. As the death rate diminishes, then COVID 19, is more like the common flu than it has been before.
