Herd Immunity…Are We There?

Sunday was a NINE Green Arrow Day; below are the particulars.

In the USA, we have now administered almost 295 million doses as of May 30th, 2021. Of which 135 million have completed their entire regimen. The vaccine distribution continues to expand (more outlets), and all restrictions of access, such as age, have been lifted. About 41% of our citizens have completed their respective dose regimens.

One important fact should be noted; in six months, the USA has administered 295 million doses. That is quite a feat since a year ago; nobody knew there would be a light at the end of the tunnel, nevertheless a vaccine. Are we close to Herd Immunity? The CDC’s best information states that we achieve that level somewhere between 70% and 80%.

The combination of the 135 million, plus the recorded (20 million net, less the duplicates) and unrecorded (73.9 million) recovers make our Herd Immunity Factor (HIF) 229 million or 69% of our population. Said a bit different, only 103 million citizens don’t have either vaccination or self-created immunity (those with the virus), and only 174,000 currently are virus carriers.

We have suggested about a month; we were beginning to achieve Herd Immunity. The chart below shows an 86% drop in new cases (See the below chart) since the week of April 18th. Pretty good progress and even better news.
