Sunday was an EIGHT Green Arrow Day.

Whole Lotta Shakin’ (Scolding) Goin’ On

Good Morning,

We administered over 380 million doses as of September 12, 2021, 17 million more than three weeks ago. Of which 179 million have completed their entire regimen or 54% of our population. The combination of the 179 million, plus the recorded (18.6 million net, less the duplicates) and unrecorded (39.6 million minus the duplicates) recovers make our Herd Immunity Factor (HIF) 237 million or 71% of our population. In the last couple of weeks, new cases have been trending favorably.

Jerry Lee Lewis wrote the song “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” and we want to borrow the title a bit and say there is a “Whole lotta Scoldin’ Goin’ On.” What we mean is that many of our leaders and pundits seem to want to scold someone for the challenges of COVID. Who knew what when who is vaccinated and who are those that refuse to get vaccinated? Who has the authority to command whom as far as vaccinations and masks are concerned?

Well, we are going to pile on a bit and scold those powers that be. There is an opportunity to look at the data and make better arguments about the best course of action. We have listed some of those points.

New Cases: Anytime an individual receives a positive COVID test, it is considered a unique case even if that person gets multiple tests to validate when the virus has run its course. All strains of Covid are counted as a single variety.

We should add the capability to distinguish whether a test was a follow-up to a person who initially tested positive. Multiple same person positives should be eliminated from the case count. Secondly, we should report the different variants of Covid separately. If the data showed that vaccinations successfully prevented the original strain, it might make a more pervasive argument to getting a vaccination.

Fatalities:      Any fatality in the United States that involves the virus is considered a Covid death. An example of this categorization involved a drug overdose case in Sarasota. The patient was rushed to the hospital and, when admitted, was also diagnosed with COVID. Thus, death is attributed to the virus.

Similarly, as “new cases” ought to have better accounting, fatalities should as well. We’ve discussed in this newsletter categorizing people by the number and types of prescription drugs used to classify people by risk factors. Imagine the compelling argument that could be made if those vaccinated in the lower risk categories had almost a zero mortality rate.

We are making the point that data could be available that would transcend opinions (political, medical, legal) and uninformed conjecture.
